Independent trailer suspension refers to a suspension design where each wheel moves independently, rather than using a solid axle that connects both wheels. In an independent setup, the movement of one wheel due to bumps or potholes has a minimal effect on the opposite wheel. This design provides a smoother ride, enhanced stability, and improved handling for caravans and trailers, particularly on uneven terrain. ARV’s independent trailer suspension systems utilise trailing arm technology with coil springs and shock absorbers (or airbags in our Titan Air) to provide caravans with superior ride comfort and control compared to traditional beam axle or leaf spring suspensions.

Our Titan Air suspension integrates airbag technology, allowing adjustable ride height and levelling – great for luxury caravans or variable loads. Each of these ARV suspension systems is engineered for specific needs, but all share our hallmark qualities of durability and ease of maintenance.
What types of caravans can use ARV Suspension Systems?
Our suspension systems are designed to accommodate virtually all caravan types and sizes. We have solutions for single-axle campers, tandem-axle caravans, and even heavy multi-axle trailers. For on-road and semi-off-road caravans, the Titan suspension (available in 3300kg or 3500kg ATM configurations) provides ample capacity. For dedicated off-road and high-GVM caravans, the Titan-X offers options with a maximum ATM of up to 4500kg on twin-axle setups. And with Titan Air, even the largest touring rigs can benefit from adjustable air suspension. Yes. We are proud to say that 100% of ARV’s suspension systems are Australian-designed and made at our Melbourne facility. We source Australian steel and materials for our chassis and suspension components, and we partner with trusted local suppliers (for example, we use Aussie-made hubs and locally available shock absorbers) to ensure quality and easy serviceability.
